Boozy Bear

“Boozy Bear” was an installation piece about substance abuse among teens. I made it in response to a trend of High schools having to ban gummy bears from their campuses for fear that they might be soaked in vodka.

This supersized yet infantile “boozy bear” sat atop a wine crate safely wrapped up in its blanket of wine corks. With each of the blankets corners anchored by heavier cork pieces cast in brass. The bear itself smelled strongly of fruit juice and vodka while he slowly melted at room temperature.

“Boozy Bear” -Gelatin, Vodka, Fabric, string, cork, brass, found wine crate - approx. 45 x 12 x 9 in.
