political Game
“Political Game” - Plywood, birch veneer, ink - 22 x 22 in.
Chess was a game that my Grandfather Enjoyed. During Family gatherings I would see a set sitting out somewhere like it was ready to go at the drop of a hat. Another common fixture during family gatherings were political debates…. I often avoided these at all costs.
I didn’t understand for a very long time why some family would get so heated…. until around 2008. The year of smartphones and Obama’s first election campaign. That year politics became inescapable.
Since then, some very real awakenings have happened for the American people as a whole. Most of all the awareness of how ‘the old days’ were not actually that long ago and that paying attention o your politicians is essential. Especially when, for some people, the ‘political game’ is just that; a strategic game. One that has winners and losers.
